This was a very nice surprise. Chile poblano was excellent. Very unique building. Don't let the exterior deter your visit.

Good food. Nice people. Amazing old building! Sure I enjoyed my burrito and that huge margarita? But the elaborate carved woodwork on the bar, walls and the other awesome architectural details like stained glass windows and ornately carved frames on artwork, made it appealing on a whole other level! If you're here, visit this place. Simply beautiful!

There food was not up to there usual today
The Texan fajita was kind of bland. Not sure if we will go back . Plus the paint on the walls need redone. So thinking maybe not a good place any more -

Tequila Grill occupies a historical building called the Benson Block, built in 1924. See more information below.
Mom and I were in the mood for Mexican food - or maybe it was just me! After reviewing the menu (many, many choices) we had chosen the same entree - Texan Fajitas. So - we ordered 2 lime margaritas ($4.50) and the Texan Fajita Double ($23).
The wait staff were friendly and stopped by our table with perfect timing (not too often and not too infrequent). Mom ordered the frozen margarita and I ordered on the rocks. Unfortunately, they were served in plastic margarita glasses and had a bright glowing lime green color (probably from the mix) - they were refreshing.
The fajitas were very good. The peppers and onions were perfectly cooked. Steak, chicken and shrimp were plentiful - we packed up more than half of it to take home. The dish of sides included rice, refried beans, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, guacamole (small portion hiding under the sour cream) and picoThe rice and beans were bland, but 3 styles of hot sauce are available at each table.
Benson Block is a historic structure located at 109-112 N. Market in downtown Ottumwa, Iowa, United States. The building was built as a theatre, but because it lacked a sufficient number of exits it was never used for that purpose.[3] The façade of the Classical Revival style building is composed of terra cotta. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.[1] In 2016 it was included as a contributing property in the Greater Second Street Historic District.[2][4] -

Visited on a road trip and absolutely loved this place. Food and drinks were great and the prices were amazing. Will return on any future visits!
Tortilla chips were fresh made in house. Steak was perfectly marbled. Shrimp were seasoned perfectly.
